So I missed last week’s what’s new post. There have been some fairly significant changes in my life recently, so I blame that (and snow, dammit Snow).
This guy sucks.
Recently, my friend and I have been getting serious about streaming fighting games. You can see some videos of the Pittsburgh fighting game scene here and the stream here. We’re doing it right now under the name of CMUken.
Since we have all this stuff though, we asked ourselves: “why not stream outside of CMUken”? For instance, since animu fighters rarely get streamed at tournaments, maybe we could offer our services to them. With that sentiment, Team 2A was born.
Fate/Zero – I was really surprised by now good this show is. I think what makes it so much better than Fate/Stay is that there isn’t a boring-as-hell main character whose only purpose is that fanboys can fap live vicariously through him, instead choosing to more or less show all the various factions equally. But really, you should watch it for loli Rin.
I started to mess around with the Android SDK last week.
Messin' around with Android.
For kneejerk impressions, I like how integrated the SDK is with Eclipse. It’s nice being able to do things like download different versions of the API (which corresponds to differing device versions), have a LogCat view (having a provided logger is also nice), manage AVDs, and being able to click run and have it run on my phone for testing.
Melty Blood is definitely one of my favorite fighting game series. In fact, it’s (MBAA specifically) probably the first fighting game that I’ve taken seriously.
It’s been a long-ass time, but they’re finally releasing the next revision (MBAACC 1.07), and the demo is out!
Has nothing to do with Melty Blood, except that Miyako's adorable.
The demo features Arcueid, W.Arcueid, Sion, and V.Sion
Haven’t tried the netplay out yet since I can’t do port forwarding., but I’m really looking forward to trying it out later.
(a) Right-of-way to pedestrians.– A person riding a pedalcycle upon a sidewalk or pedalcycle path used by pedestrians shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing a pedestrian.
(b) Business districts.– A person shall not ride a pedalcycle upon a sidewalk in a business district unless permitted by official traffic-control devices, nor when a usable pedalcycle-only lane has been provided adjacent to the sidewalk.
I blame quantitative research and machine learning (and Uiharu).
Yeah, you heard me.
To be more specific, I’m starting to enjoy collecting data and trying to see if anything cool comes out of it. Professionally, this usually involves analyzing software and software communities. If you’re interested in what I do there, at some point I’ll link to my PhD student page (when I make it, ha!).
Personally though, I’ve noticed that I’ve started to use data collection to attempt to improve on my life in certain ways.
I’m Jason Tsay, The Bonkler, and I’ve watched Azumanga Daioh too many times. I’m also a Software Engineering grad student. This blog started as a log of my trip to Taiwan and Japan and is now a log of the random events of my life. Everything from anime to build logs of the random electronics [...]more →
